It is a misconception that most people have, that the used car auctions are the best place and ideal for buying a new car. Lot of bargaining and cheaper price are not all that matter always. You have got better ways.
It is not advisable to buy from an auction if you are not well informed about cars. Should any problem arise in the future you have to get the problem corrected all by yourself. This is because most auction houses issues a disclaimer and would not offer to take any sort of responsibility, once the car is sold off. The Sale of Goods Act offers a cover for many goods, most auction houses alter the selling conditions by doing away with the buyers’ rights of the Act. You have to be extra careful here and make sure that you are not taken for a ride by the auction house. If you are very particular to make purchases from an auction, make visits to the auctioning house a few times in order to get familiarize with the procedures there. Ask some one you know, who is familiar in the field, to accompany you in helping out. Together you can decide on the vehicle or opt out of buying one. The auction houses allow the public to have a look at the cars/vehicles put up for auction on preview days. Make the maximum possible inspection/checking then. It is always advisable to undertake a vehicle data check. Here the vehicle’s history is checked in detail and gives information on its bad history like whether it was stolen or whether some tampering with mileage was done etc. You would always have kept an upper limit for spending on used cars/vehicles. Do not fall for anything exceeding that limit, however tempted you may be. |
